The Red Tide

So, I sat down with Chris yesterday at Greathall Games and threw down some Flames of War. We decided on the point value to be around 1300 since I am the only one really that can do 2000. So, I toned down my Guards Tankovy Company and we went toe-toe.

My list was the following.

Battalion Command

x 1 T-34 OBR 1943
Tankodesniky

Line Platoons x1 in 3 Squad Sections

x9 T-34 OBR 1943

x1 Platoon of Tank Riders

x1 Platoons of Katyusha Rocket Mortars w/the bombardment upgrade

Priority Air Support from IL2 Shturmoviks

The first turn was very uneventful. My tanks just moved closer while taking a few potshots at what they could see. My Katyushas failed to range in, I got my air support however, but it did nothing as well.

Chris's turn was more of the same. He called his air support, but the Red Airforce drove the Capitalist Pigs away with the Motherlands Vengance. He stayed dug in and entrenched behind the hedgerows waiting to pop up.

My turn came around again. I got my air support but it did not range in neither did my Katyushas. *sigh* BUT, however one of my Tank Platoons made it into assault range. Chris attempted to counter attack the tanks, but his bazookas were out of position to fire through the hedgerow. The tanks ground through the hedge rows making an assault on one of his entrenched platoons. I caused 2 wounds that were unsaved and he made his morale check in order to counter attack. It failed and his platoon fell back leaving me with the objective uncontested.

And at the beginning of his next turn I had achieved a victory condition and the game ended.

So we sat around for a few minutes talking about the game and the outcome. We settled to the fact that he had held his tank destroyers in ambush too long and that what hurt him. Also he decided that even with them he didnt have the firepower in his infantry platoons to deal with the amount of armor I had on the table. So all in all it was a good game and I had fun and no bad blood was had between us.

Well, after almost 3 years of being with the company, its time. Time for the contract to end. As I type this there has been no progression that I know of in regards to it. Im hoping that we are able to hammer out an agreement with the company that maintains our current benefits, in addition to boosting those that make sub par what they should to that point. Most of you have heard me rant at some point in time about the shitty work conditions that I endure at my job since I am not part of the Appendix C of the contract. Hopefully that will change, as will my pay. It is only fair since the company made 12 billion last year in net profit and they claim the system I work on is the future of the company. Should'nt you pay "your future" employees decently and not continue to heap work on them fairly?

Swap Meet Fun!

So, I went to the swap meet at DL tonight. I spent a few hours attempting to pawn off some Space Marine stuff and consolidate down the massive bits box that I have accrued over the years. I successfully did so. I also picked up some out of print models. Namely after selling my Griffons in Huntsville, I found someone with one that wanted to get rid of it! And it has the crew and all! It just took a sealed box of Dev Marines. Which I was perfectly ok with. And I made 94 bucks from selling other things. All in all, a very good and profitable night for me.

First IL-2 Off the Line

I finished my first Flames of War Model, an IL-2. For those of you that say I never paint....Eat it.

Oh Noes! More Soviets

So, my Tankovy Company is coming together quite nicely. Granted at the current time I had not had any investments into the heavy tanks, they just seem pointless since really all the tanks are going to be used for is securing objectives and getting my 20 squads of Tankodesetniky Tank Riders into the fight.

Also, I was the first in the group to secure some of my air units. I purchased a flight of 3 IL-2 Shturmoviks. I read the stats on these things and they are flying tanks! I mean thats a giant bag of awesome. One is almost finished, and the other 2 have been based using GW Foundation Paints. I used the Denehb Stone Paint from the foundation range to give me a good cover to go over with Kommando Khaki in between the Knarloc Green and Black ink to weather the look of the plane. Granted the propellor prop will be bright Soviet Red. I mean, come on, I have to pay homage to the Motherland right?

So, soon I will sit down and start working out my list and post the pictures of the finished flyer.
